A Sweet Encounter
I had an amazing disappointment a few days ago but let me tell you about this right now. While I am perusing this wood bench with a big “free” sign on it, a neighbor pulled over to view as well. In the midst of discussing the bench and both of us realizing we probably didn’t have a real useful need for it we began talking about so much more. She was so wise I thought as she shared about the loves of her life, her four children and I shared the sentiment regarding my one daughter. I then begin to open up about this disappointment I encountered just a few hours prior to us meeting. Dorothy and I now begin to talk “life” and the journeys we have experienced. The next thing I know her eyes are full of tears that gently run down her face as she expresses the victory in climbing mountains alone, as a single parent yet having so much from her church family and four children which are 20 something. My new sista, has a body of 20 something..lol naturally! I just wanted to state that. Dorothy truly did look wonderful and she is more mature…i.e is older than I. Okay so we are having this moment and I shed a tear as well hearing her story of fortitude. I am now craving for this light to fall fresh on me after all, I opened my blinds this morning and yelled, “hello world!” and for me that implies, I am ready for my day, my life, my blessings intentionally. As Dorothy and I continue conversing I just admit I want prayer, this woman grabs my hand so tight, is holding it closely between the chest of her and I and speaks so profoundly to what I thought was a disappointment but to her, now knowing “our” faith, it was simply a release towards something much better to come for me.
This all began because two people stopped to check out a table( probably with a little competition of who could state claim on the freebie let the truth be told) that we then figured would be of know real use but the conversation we would have…..priceless! And when we got in our cars and drove off, I thought this reminds me of an episode of a teen talk show I hosted and produced, called “Sistas In The Name of Love”. that is what Dorothy and I were, this is who we choose to become, her Filipino to my African-American race and trust me none of that mattered. Sistas in the name of love- All we knew even if for that Tuesday afternoon, but I know we will have more days to be intentional to be love & light! To Us Sistas! Cheers!
Oh yes, a new opportunity awaits me.
